Kim Baldwin

Founder of 'Tax Fairies' from  By Nature Consulting

I began my career with HMRC, followed by industry accounting, before starting my own tax business while juggling a family of three.

After a change in circumstances, I diversified into running a clothing company, buying and selling clothes across the UK and Europe, and managing fashion shows and clothes parties for schools and individuals. While I enjoyed the experience, I eventually found my way back to tax and accounting, becoming a financial director of a large company.

Now, I’ve restarted my own tax business, Tax Fairies, where I help sole traders, small to medium-sized companies, and individuals with everything from self-assessments to tax code checks, pensions, claiming expenses, and managing CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) compliance.

I’m a firm believer in positivity, though I know it’s not always easy. As my wonderful grandma used to say, "There’s no such word as can’t"—a mantra that I live by every day.

She Means Business, in partnership with Sue, is an initiative close to my heart. Together, we provide practical, down-to-earth support for women looking to return to work or start their own businesses. With Sue focusing on emotional wellbeing and confidence, and me simplifying the financial and compliance processes, we aim to remove the pressure and de-mystify the journey to becoming your own boss.

I was once that professional woman, struggling daily with stress at work. Weekends offered no relief—I couldn’t switch off. I worked harder and faster, yet it felt like I was stuck in the same place. Eventually, I realised I was heading for burnout and would make myself ill if I didn’t change something.

Stress became the wake-up call I needed to turn my life around. Life coaching helped me do just that. It gave me the tools to rebuild my confidence and take control of my life. The transformation was so profound that I retrained to help other women who find themselves in the same position.

Now, I work with women who are ready to focus on themselves—moving away from stress, anxiety, and burnout, and instead building a more fulfilling, confident life. Women who, like me, want to feel happier and more empowered than ever before.

I know first hand how it feels to be overwhelmed and stuck, and I simply can’t bear the thought of anyone else going through that.

I’m passionate about helping women realise that it’s possible to create a better, brighter life.
